Amaze The Globalist of DownTown

“Learn to teach yourself what you need to know”. Born and Hazed in San Antonio Texas. Amaze is an artist, rapper and producer in Downtown S.A. . Amaze is apart of Diverse Artistry. Founded in 2012. He has thrown over 50 events with rappers such as the local Mr. Composition and Slick Rick. ” You have your two scenes out here, up north you have your Rowdy Rap Club scene such as the Falls, Club Empire and Club Rio. Down Town you have you Hip-Hop scene. That’s what I want to be apart of, the Scene downtown. I’m finding my place in this scene.” After exchanging a few smokes, I imposed a few of my ideals of what the scene is composed of here in downtown. “People are scared to step out. People are hesitant to step out. People who advertise don’t use local music. So local talent does not get attention. So I showcase crazy party’s instead of an artist. So when they get there, their blown away.”

Pink Leche live at the Espresso Gallery

Pink Leche is the talk around these parts. Though a pink Russian(white Russian) is in order. No alcoholic beverages are served here at the Espresso Gallery. But music is served on a cool tray of H-town essence beats. Known for his ubiquity on the microphone.  Pink Leche inherited the night blasting his beats. Snares popping, high hats ticking , bass bumping. He tore it up at the Espresso Gallery. Most definitely check this Kat out.

Fast Times at the Espresso Gallery

Some great times are to be had here at the local Espresso Art Gallery. Located on 529 San Pedro Ave San Antonio, Texas 78212. Some dope caffeinated drinks are to be had here. With prices ranging from free(water) to ten bucks. Your almost tempted to try it all. With some cash left over, you almost forget they serve fresh waffles. Captain Crunch Berry waffles that is.

The Espresso Gallery has been open since 2012. Owned by Aron Garza. With a great family of co-workers. The Gallery has gained fame for their DIY style of doing business. Serving great beverages, providing beautiful artwork and supporting local music. Almost every night I find some sort of DJ or band rocking on their stage.

Almost as interesting as the Gallery itself, is its in-house producers. This is the unofficial home of Die Happy Productions.  Headed by Michael David Garcia and Drew Sifuentes. These Kats are some of the most down to earth Production artist in the Loop. They have worked with local artist from Mili Mars to Lonely Horse. With the vision of living life to the fullest. Why should anyone die unhappy?

Stop by the Espresso Gallery, open M-F:8am-6pm Sat:9-5  Sun:10-5

Def-con status on the Hays Bridge

The life of Defcon Cali is an interesting one. Born and raised in S.A. He lives a life of freedom, Soul purely escaped from the reality of itself. Him and his close friends such as Straykatt, enjoy a wonderful life downtown near the Alamo. Defcon welcomed me to his family and his home. We talked about life and ideals over a cup of coffee and breakfast tacos on the Southeast side. He was very insightful on how he felt of life after death, especially on the note of losing a close friend who is like family. Clauses of Eternal Oblivion. We saw an eternal reward of death.

We were where the trains are at. It seems real. The Hays street bridge. An interesting place. We can see all for miles. As the Spurs won, with horns heard throughout the city. We paid tribute to a friend named Mace, He was killed on his bike last month in a hit and run incident.  There was over 25 of us here. As we sat there next to his memorial. We enjoyed and partook in the simple pleasures of life; it was not a time of mourning but a celebration and the appreciation of how he made this group of people feel. No one really remembers your name or what you do but how you make them feel is eternal. We enjoyed this moment of being alive. Spending such little time that we have on this Earth. To love and appreciate one another.

Supported by the loving memory of Mace. Rest in Paradise. 1993-2014

A Trip to the E.R.

Some Biggie Smalls shit is going down at the E.R. Bar. Located on 8647 Wurzback Rd. San Antonio TX. Now some would say that this is bad publicity, but I believe that any publicity is good publicity, so fuck it. Now I experienced a pretty chill bar. Called the E.R. for emergency room I guess. Cool little specials, three bucks for imports on Wednesday. My complaint is how the fuck do you get to this place? So I would suggest driving slow. Other than that, I heard some cool beats being played tonight. Traphead type shit. Supposedly every Wednesday shit is popping off like this. Micky Sweets was here, Guru Sagods manager was here, Some dope ass graph artist were present to represent their home boys and the local hero Zerktronic was here to play some of his beats. I would say it was a good night, especially the part where you have a big ass nigga threatening to pop caps into peoples asses because he never experienced a bar tender not giving him his change back because he “gots to pay child support”. SO other than that. I would say come out here, They have decent drink specials.

An evening with the Night Shift Volume 1

DSC_0156

As I spend this time passing by. With sounds and characters tonight. Do we find another culture to consider ours. Zerktronic and Pagan Gold. But we sit around. With optimols and trees alike. We wonder ; is there more? Coffe consumed, cigarettes puffed. Do we really wonder, what is there to do? Are we Doomed? Are we lost in this city? The City of Spurs, A city of People, A city of Change, and a City of Faith. We work together, and collaborate, commemorate and commoditized our ideals of yesterday. And of the future that has come today. And we think to  ourselves, how can we extended this pleasure to you? The pleasure of being UP LATE.
